Abstract :
Photoacoustic (PA) imaging was applied to detect the actual surface fatigue crack and the grooved plane with defect. Three types of specimen are prepared. Two types of specimen were prepared for fatigue cracks. The materials used were brass and aluminum alloy (Duralumin). The third type of grooved specimen with defect was made of aluminum. The actual fatigue crack and the defect in groove were clearly shown in the obtained PA image.
