Abstract :
The Finite Integration Technique, which can be considered as a generalization of Yee´s FDTD method, has been proved to be an efficient tool for the simulation of electromagnetic phenomena. Usually, computer speed and memory space become the only limiting factors for the accuracies of the simulations. For many applications, the usage of locally refined meshes can save a lot of computer resources and thus can make it possible to handle more complex problems on the computers available today. In this paper we will present a new subgridding algorithm for combination with the Finite Integration Technique in time domain which can also be used for frequency domain and eigenmode computations. After describing the method we will study numerical errors, before we finally show the applicability of the method by regarding a small practical example.
