Abstract :
As a developing country, China has confronted with dilemma of coal consumption and environment: Coal is indeed China´s double edged sword-the new economy´s black gold and the fragile environment´s dark cloud. The article makes an overview of China´s coal consumption and environmental challenges, and describes the ASC and IGCC technology designed to reduce pollutants, including the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide, suggests new approaches for China to contribute toward international solutions to the greenhouse problem.
