Abstract
Red hilly area of south China is the most important agricultural production base of China, where account for about 1/5 of land area of China, 40% population of China and 30% of arable land. Besides, it provides food for nearly half of the population. So it is important theoretical and practical significance for research about soil fertility and agrarian capability in this area. Taking the typical hilly red soil region of south China, Longhui County as the research area, this research did spatial analyses about farmland fertility evaluation factors by choosing suitable affected factors and reasonable evaluation method. It analyses space distribution character of farmland fertility evaluation factors, and its affection to farmland fertility evaluation. Using spatial and overlap analyses based on GIS, this research made spatial variability that affect farmland fertility and its spatial distribution to informatization, and discuss the development of farmland fertility and its affected factors in hilly red soil region of south China from spatial dimension.
