  • Abstract
    One of the major characteristics behind the success of Machine to machine (M2M) Networks is the least human involvement. With the penetration of smart-devices and intelligent home-appliances, M2M communication has opened the doors of new prospects for us. With the advent of autonomous organization and network & service management, conventional networks are fast replaced by machine-to-machine M2M networks. Recent trend has shown that Policy-based network management is becoming an important component in M2M. Therefore, we have designed a policy based network management system for M2M Networks. The contributions of this work are a light-weight Information Model, a compatible policy editing and compilation mechanism and a feedback loop based intelligent control PBNM system. The practicality of the proposed system is illustrated by the realization of a Policy Server for enabling PBNM along with an adapter for simultaneously management of sensor networks and smart phones (and devices).
