Abstract
As part of the development of a new notational language, a simple language for mathematical sets, SetCup, was implemented in Java. This paper discusses some of the difficulties encountered in representing sets and in performing set operations for different set types. The use of Java as a suitable platform for hosting a language design and the experience gained is discussed
