Abstract :
Measurement technique for natural ventilation rate cannot support the building\´s own ventilation potential. Therefore, it is necessary to find a simpler, feasible and precise field-measurement technique. This paper presents the feasibility of using an "artificial airflow passage" to measure the air rate through one outlet, which changes the "random" airflow into "regular" airflow. Field-measurement on one resident building with atrium inside has been carried out for the natural ventilation volume. The air rate data indicate that the ventilation potential is related with the building characteristics: i) architectural feature; ii) use feature. The air rate of the natural ventilation potential of the resident building owns is used to demand the meet of the necessary air rate for the building. This paper provides the effects of the features on the ventilation potential, and presents index ¿ to discuss the effect of the two features.
