Abstract :
It is necessary to study replacement of urban industrial sites during urbanization in China. Taking Fuzhou, the central city of the Economic Zone on the West Coast of Taiwan Straits as example, this paper probes into the spatial-temporal characteristics of urban industrial sites replacement based on GIS. On the base of illustrating the macro background of replacement of industrial sites, this paper analyses the driving forces of replacement of urban industrial sites from view of stakeholders. The conclusion of this research indicates that, firstly, the spatial structure of Fuzhou urban area takes on centralization-decentralization-balanced type of developmental sequence and a clear circle structure. Secondly, national reform of land-use system and adjustment of industrial structure provide a profound social background for replacement of industrial land in Fuzhou city. Thirdly, the request for interests from local government, land developers, the moved industrial enterprises and social public are main driving forces for industrial land replacement in Fuzhou city, while the government policies take a great driving effect during the replacement of industrial land.
