Abstract
The dead beat control issue is addressed for a class of discrete time systems described by a general nonlinear input/output recursive representation. Existence conditions of dead beat control laws are obtained for recursive nonlinear systems that are not uniquely invertible. The concept of structurally stable hyperbolic attractor is used to propose a new nonlinear extension of the notion of stable zero dynamics. It is illustrated by an example of a dead beat control law with associated hyperbolic chaotic zero dynamics
