Abstract :
A method is proposed for solving nonlinear quadratic regulator problems. It is shown, under proper assumptions, that the optimal control law of a nonlinear quadratic regulator problem can be obtained by solving some two-point boundary value problem which does not involve the costate vector and has lower dimension in many cases
