Abstract
This paper shows how to integrate fault detection, fault identification and fault compensation into two different types of induction motor drive systems. The proposed strategies can compensate both open-circuit and short-circuit failures occurring in the converter power devices. The fault compensation is achieved by reconfiguring the power converter topology with the help of isolating and connecting devices, allowing the system for continuous post-fault operation. Two isolation techniques are investigated and experimental results demonstrate the validity of the proposed fault tolerant strategy.
