Abstract :
Packet reservation protocols are well suited for medium access control in star-configured networks. We propose a centralized adaptive reservation (CAR) protocol for integrating constant bit rate (CBR) traffic, variable bit rate (VBR) traffic and unspecified bit rate (UBR) traffic over a star-configured network. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the performance of the protocol. These results indicate that CAR is an effective “vehicle” for delivering CBR, VBR and UBR services over star-configured networks
