Abstract :
Computerized spoken language translation is a technology that translates text or spoken inputs from one language to computer-spoken (or pre-recorded) outputs in another language. This paper will address the emerging field of language translation for both military and law enforcement applications. This paper reports on how language translation can help combat the war on terrorism along with the requirements and current activities conducted by the Air Force Research Laboratory and the Law Enforcement Analysis Facility to perform language translation for intelligence gathering and human language exchange.
