Abstract :
Tracking real-time onboard component damage accumulation for jet engine rotating structures inside an integrated prognostics and health management system is an improvement over current engine component life tracking processes. A new advanced life prediction system provides a comprehensive and reliable prognostics tool capable of identifying remaining life on major life limited rotating components driving engine maintenance actions. This prognostics tool consists of algorithms generated from component structural models and design criteria at critical engine operating conditions. Tool output is damage accumulated, required to calculate remaining life estimate of the component, used to project next maintenance action.
