  • Abstract
    The purpose of this paper is to design a scheme for building an integrated information system for urban transportation which is based on the existing Metropolitan Area Network, road camera and other existing urban transportation facilities. First of all, the system adopts and integrates the technology of computer vision, digital image processing technology, database technology, communications technology, control technology, image sensor technology and system integration technology to the transportation industry. Secondly, it uses the most advanced technology of union database currently to give the sharing of information resources from different IT application system of transportation industry. Thirdly, it utilizes the modern telecom technology to realize the diffusion of transportation information via a variety of information media. The design and realization of the union use of different databases by using data federation technology are presented in information processing and storage subsystem. Therefore, it can realize the collection, processing and delivery of all kinds of urban transportation message effectively. The advanced scheme shall become a base for the development of integrated information system for urban transportation.
