Abstract :
A methodology for testing software for the solution of PDE has been developed. The methodology is based on two levels of testing: one level to test the accuracy of the approximation to the PDE over individual volumes or elements, and one level to test the accuracy of the solution of the full system of equations. Some software can only be tested on one of these levels, but in many cases both levels of test can be applied.
