Abstract
Differential invariants and the G-S algorithm for feedback linearization are applied to the study of control systems motivated by automatic flight control. This results in the parametrization of exactly linearizable models and in the discovery of geometrically natural system variables. The latter are invariant under state feedback transformations and provide a measure of the extent to which a given system departs from exact linearizability
