Abstract
Three-phase currents of STATCOM with conventional control strategy will be unbalanced and distorted when the STATCOM operates at the condition of non-ideal grid voltages. Special attention was paid to the influence of grid voltage quality on STATCOM current and a new control strategy was presented to counteract the influence in this paper. The unbalance and non-sine distortion of grid voltage causes not only the inverter dc voltage fluctuation but also the ac current unbalance and distorted. On the basis of direct voltage control, a dual-loop control is adopted in order to let the inverter voltage contain the fundamental negative sequence and harmonic component corresponding to the grid voltage. The correctness and validity of the present control strategy is verified by the theoretic analysis and digital simulation.
