Abstract :
The stable and safety operation of a "Smart Grid" (SG) requires high performance Grid Connected Inverters (GCIs) (like wind turbine converters). These inverters\´ control features not only cover the renewable energy conversion and active power feeding into the utility grid but furthermore they cover the helping of the Grid management. It means static and dynamic grid voltage stabilization, fault ride through (FRT) capability, reactive power injection and frequency control. The reducing of the development time is getting more important, this requires accurate and reliable simulation and modeling system. One possibility is to create a PC simulation to verify the first ideas and plan the control algorithm, and then a Rapid Prototyping System with it is possible to test the real control board with the implemented control algorithm in real time operation, before constructing the whole equipment.
