Abstract
Many of the issues that impeded the take-up of home networks in the past are now no longer valid. At the same time, people´s perceptions and needs have evolved that content is available and people actively want and need to distribute it within the home. There are still some technical issues to solve, but these are being solved under the auspices of the digital living network alliance (DLNA) in conjunctions with expert groups like WiFi and UPnP. Consumer products are now available which build on the technical work and which fulfill people´s needs.
