Abstract
Based on the temporal and spatial correlations we build a WSN application model. Various applications are unified to a theoretical framework by defining the parameters of the model. Based on the model, we classify WSN applications in two types: multi-source data collection system and event monitoring system, and point out the characteristics of the two types of systems and their research challenges.
