Abstract
The performance characteristic for off-grid wind power system is analyzed in this paper. A control strategy which employs fuzzy PID controller to achieve power control under different operating mode without both measuring wind speed and applying mechanical sensors such as wind velocity and rotation speed sensors is also presented. The wind power system operates at the state of maximum power tracking control or load power tracking control according to different load power requirement below nominal wind speed. The output of wind power is limited by means of folding tail vane of wind turbine automatically and employing the load of energy-dissipation above nominal wind speed. Simulation studies which are based on MATLAB/Simulink/Powersystem/Fuzzy Logic Toolbox are carried out. The results indicate that the systems have optimum power output within the range of working wind speed.
