Abstract
Because of the rapid advancements in signal processing and multiuser detection (MUD) technologies, a wireless node can successfully decode compound signals from multiple transmitters. The increase in the number of simultaneous transmissions leads to higher throughput as long as the transmissions are successfully decoded by the receiver. To maximize the performance of such multi-packet reception (MPR)-capable networks, it is desirable to maximize the minimum Euclidean distance among the constellation points of the compound signal at the receiver. In this paper, we propose a feedback-based relative power ratio adjustment scheme, which estimates the symbol energy of each transmitter´s received signal, computes the optimal power ratio among the transmitters, and feeds back the optimal power levels to the transmitters. We show that the proposed scheme significantly reduces the error probability in an MPR-capable multiuser communication system.
