  • Abstract
In this paper, we first analyzed the OpenGIS Simple Features Specification for OLEXOM and the GML (Geography Markup Language) specification proposed by OGC (Open GIS Consortium). We then designed and implemented an XML data provider based on the OpenGIS Simple Features Specification for OLE/COM and the GML specification using the MSXML parser. The XML data provider guarantees interoperability by supporting the standard structure and standard interface for processing geographical data, and provides efficient analysis functions for XML data using XML technologies. Therefore, by using the XML data provider, we can share geographical data in XML documents supporting the standard DTD with geographical data in heterogeneous data sources supporting the OpenGIS specification, verify XML document structure efficiently, and access XML data easily
