Abstract :
Recently, there have been developments in sensor and wireless communication techniques for phonocardiology applications which have been focusing primarily in the area of Bluetooth technology. In this paper, wireless phonocardiography sensor based on Zigbee protocol is developed. The system consists of phonocardiography sensor, wireless mote and a sensor board. The test results show that the system is capable of detecting both fundamental heart sounds (SI and S2) and abnormal heart sounds (S3 and S4) using portable, low-cost and low-power consumption device. In addition to gaining the benefit of wireless transmission and data visualization form the system, users also gain a benefit of Zigbee protocol which enhances the battery life for wider usage, especially for remote, mobile applications.
