Abstract
Wastewater treatment experiments to decompose the organic compounds, such as the phenol, the acetic acid, the chlorophenol, and so on, are conducted by using a hybrid gas-liquid discharge reactor. It is shown that the characteristic of the high-voltage power is important for the degradation process. A digital-analog mixed control method is employed in the control solution to keep a high power factor. Several important parameters, including the discharge gap, the initial concentration of the solution, and the discharge duration, are investigated for the phenol removal. The experimental results indicated that the amount of chemical oxygen demand (COD) is declined clearly by the mixed control high-voltage discharge.
