Large quantities of coal is consumed in fossil-thermal power plant. The general concerned question for operation departments in thermal power plant is how to analyze the reasons and sites which cause the standard coal consumption rate for generating increasing, and provide the basis to power plants for their overhauling and exploiting energy savings potential. Taking a fossil-thermal power plant for example, the operation economic state is identified firstly, and the viewpoint is pointed the standard coal consumption rate for generating is too high thus the economic efficiency is too low. Then the boiler thermal efficiency and steam turbine actual cycle thermal efficiency are measured, the effect of the efficiency deviating from target value on the standard coal consumption rate for generating is analyzed. The certain low operation thermal economic performance of steam turbine is pointed out. Finally, the diagnosis on the reasons and sites causing the thermal economic performance of steam turbine decreasing is conducted. The research has a great significance for the potential of exploiting energy savings and increasing the operation economic efficiency of fossil-thermal power plant.
