Abstract
The authors describe the modeling, rebuilding, and testing of a modulating-anode klystron having 1.25 MW peak output power that was originally made for the Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility (LAMPF). All original klystron parameters were retained, with the exception of the center frequency, which was raised from 805 to 850 MHz. Each of the five cavities was redesigned to achieve this increase. The rebuilding, which was performed at the LAMPF klystron repair facility, and experimental characteristics of the rebuilt klystron are described. The klystron has produced over 1 MW at the new frequency.<>
