  • Abstract
An exact method is developed for the analysis of non-uniform waveguides with rectangular cross section. In order to satisfy the boundary conditions, a suitable non-orthogonal coordinate system is used. The tensorial form of Maxwell´s equations allowed to reduce the problem to the resolution of partial differential equations. A new degree of freedom (geometry) is introduced in the analysis of a non-uniform waveguide. Contrary to other methods, this formalism is easy to integrate in a synthesis algorithm. A E-plane non-uniform waveguide is analysed, and a H-plane taper is synthesized.
