Abstract :
This study is to explore the control characteristics of an electrorheological damper. The designed electrorheological damper is used as part of vehicle suspension system. The semi-active suspension control system equipped with the electrorheological damper and three controllers are designed for the evaluation of the performance of the electrorheological damper. The electrorheological dampers is designed, fabricated and tested. The depressive effectiveness and ride comfort of vehicle body displacement and vertical acceleration PSD using three controllers are compared to the input signals. The simulation and experimental results s show that the semi-active system can be effectively employed to a vehicle to improve both riding comfort and steering stability.
