Abstract
The paper discusses the value of trust in a community network established to share information, skills or resources. We discuss the foundations of trust and show the way to employ it in an open network environment. We also prove by means of simulations, that a system with an element to manage trust and misbehavior can show superior performance to a system without a trust component
