Abstract :
The in-water deployment of large cable systems on-the-bottom in a prescribed manner is a problem found in many applications. This paper describes an algorithm developed to dynamically model the deployment of large horizontal cable systems from the surface to the ocean floor and discusses experimental validation techniques. The validated model can be used as a design tool to facilitate the deployment of long cable systems without the expense of building experimental mock-ups
