Abstract :
Older photographs were frequently printed onto textured paper. This texture is especially noticeable on scanned digital copies of the photograph. The components of the texture can be identified in the frequency domain. A filter can be designed to remove these components and hence this background texture from the image. A method is proposed to automatically adapt the parameters of the filter to the specific texture that is encountered. The method is demomstrated on reed data.
