Abstract :
We present cantilever-type electrode (CE) array based sorting system, which is comprised of three parts such as CE array, separation module, and container for vertical pool. In order to sort target particles with different physical and dielectric material property, negative dielectrophoretic (n-DEP) force due to electric field generated from cantilever-type electrode is employed. The direction of particles on CE array is determined by summation vector among gravitation, hydrodynamic force and n-DEP force acting on particles. By using blood sample including human breast cancer cells (MCF 7s), we demonstrate that this system is applicable to separate MCF 7 cells under the condition of low voltage (lOVp-p with 500 KHz) and flow rate of 20μL/min due to draining of vertical pool.
