Abstract :
In the preventive maintenance of thermal power plants, nuclear power plants, substations and other equipment, huge quantities of data on operation and maintenance is created and controlled. Such data is used as information with which to determine the life cycles of equipment. It is to control and use such huge quantities of data and records efficiently that this database management system was developed. This system is used for proactive maintenance where the trends in deterioration of equipment are monitored and plans of optimal checkup and replacement are drafted based on the trends and history of equipment operation and maintenance. This paper presents a database management system for proactive maintenance by citing as an example a database management system for steam turbines and switch-house equipment that was implemented in Japan
