Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a novel cooperative node selection scheme in wireless sensor networks that operate in energy-constrained environment. This scheme can obtain higher energy efficiency than the traditional cooperative transmission, which only considers the residual energy of intra-cluster nodes or the channel condition. Our proposed scheme will combine the residual energy with the link quality between the cluster head node and the data fusion center. First, intra-cluster node will compare its residual energy with the predetermined energy threshold and determine whether it can assist in the transmission of the cluster headpsilas information to the data fusion center or not. Then cluster head will select one node as its cooperative node from those nodes which can aid the cluster head in transmission. Numerical and simulation results are presented to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed scheme over some distance ranges.
