Abstract
A full-wave method, which combines the efficiency of mode matching method with the versatility of finite difference method, is applied to the analysis of H-plane mitered bends in rectangular waveguide. The bend is segmented into various regions characterized by means of a generalized admittance matrix representation. The latter is calculated by modal analysis for "regular" regions and by finite difference for "irregular" regions. Design charts are presented giving the optimal mitering as well as the relative bandwidth of the mitered bend.
