Abstract :
The dynamic modeling of a wind-diesel hybrid remote area power system has been analysed and presented in this paper. This has been used as a tool to perform the transient analysis of a rural hybrid system for the various system perturbations affecting the quality and reliability of the power system. The main issues covered in this paper are: connection issues, dynamic response of the combined hybrid system to system disturbances, reactive power demand from the induction generators, loss of wind generator output due to cut in wind speed. In this paper, some of the system perturbations are considered in detail such as wind speed fluctuation, random nature of the wind profile, and major change in the demand. Effects of the above forcing functions on system voltage and frequency have been studied
