Abstract :
Renewable energy resources are being explored in many parts of the world for generation of electricity. Wind energy is one such natural resource, which can be converted into electrical energy through a wind turbine and a wind alternator (typically an induction generator). This paper presents a large-scale simulation and analysis of a wind/diesel conversion scheme under steady-state operating conditions. Due to the poor quality generator power output, an AC-DC-AC conversion scheme will be used to improve the quality of the power fed to the grid. An analysis of the system under varying wind conditions is also presented. The operating principle, theoretical analysis and computer simulation results using PSCAD/EMTDC are included in this paper
