Abstract
The author has seen a significant change in the design and application of power cables in the last 25 years mainly due to the introduction of new polymeric materials. He has also seen a very significant change in the structure of the electricity industry changing from government-owned to private corporations. At the same time, there has been a very significant change in attitudes towards a protection of the environment. These three factors have and will continue to have a very significant influence on the type of electric cables we will see being used during the next century
