Abstract
Orthogonal multi-carrier modulation draws more and more attention due to its resistance to multipath delay. Though OFDM technology have outstanding virtues that single-carrier cannot compete with, a difficulty about OFDM signals is that they have a very large peak-to average ratio. This paper analyses and compares the principle of some conventional schemes of reducing PAPR and introduces an optimization algorithm. Analysis and simulation indicates that all these schemes can reduce PAPR, but at the cost of BER and computation, respectively. In addition, the improved algorithm can overcome the deficiencies of the traditional algorithms in that it can conveniently clip signal while having a low BER.
