  • Abstract
An economic dispatch (ED) simulator has been developed for the daily and weekly operation planning of thermal units in the Matlab/Simulink environment. The well known equal incremental cost method has been utilized to determine the load dispatch among thermal units in the study system considering several constraints. A simple rule has also been proposed for the unit commitment. To demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed ED simulator, a weekly planning of 23 thermal units has been simulated with fairly good reduction of the fuel cost compared with the fuel cost in the actual operation
