Abstract :
The vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET) is one form of mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs). Vehicles in a specific area can compose VANET to provide a variety of safety-related services. Each vehicle should broadcast its beacon message periodically to form VANET. Moreover, it is a crucial task to disseminate beacon messages of each vehicle for road safety. However, if there are lots of vehicles on the road, the probability of successful reception of beacon messages would significantly decrease due to the message collision. Although conventional algorithms can achieve less collision rate, they cannot provide effective message distribution because of macroscopic perspective of the road traffic density. In this paper, we propose a broadcasting algorithm to disseminate vehicle information according to the lane traffic density as well as the road traffic density. The proposed algorithm can provide both less collision rate and effective message distribution.
