Abstract
Electromagnetic modeling and its use in SAR raw signal simulation constitute powerful instruments for the interpretation of SAR images. As far as the urban environment is concerned, the need of such instruments is higher, for the complexity of the mechanisms that contributes to the formation of the scattered field. We present an analytical model for the scattering from typical elements of the urban environment. The obtained closed form solution is then employed in a SAR raw signal simulator. Simulated images well match with the expected characteristics.
