Abstract
The generation of spurious tones in microwave oscillators is systematically tackled by means of the Hopf bifurcation concept. Spurious oscillations originate from secondary Hopf bifurcations of the periodic solution paths of the parametrised autonomous system, which can be detected by a perturbation analysis of the periodic steady states. The typical bifurcation pattern of spurious generation is illustrated by a case study.
