Abstract
Stability limits on the UK power system, and other power systems around the world, are known to cause significant constraint costs on the system operation. Because of the variation in operating conditions, guidelines and limits produced by offline studies are often conservative and hence economically inefficient and leading to additional constraint costs. This is of considerable concern to the restructured power industry. This paper presents the recent developments on the areas of online stability constraint assessment, using time domain simulation based hybrid TEF and clustering analysis techniques, for large complex power systems
