Abstract :
In this paper, the dynamic stability of the power system with TCSC is studied by the Poincare mapping method. The results show that there emerges a pitchfork bifurcation phenomenon in the simulation system if the firing angle of the thyristor changes above a critical value in inductive vernier operation mode. The root locus study, digital simulation and physical analog experiment all support the existence of such bifurcation
