Abstract :
Electric Vehicles (EVs) are currently considered one of the most promising solutions to significantly reduce oil consumption, pollutants and green house gases emissions in the transportation sector. Research activities in the field of pure electric vehicles, including modeling and simulation tools, are essential to analyze their performances and identify potential solutions for technical improvements. This paper presents a summary of the modeling and simulation carried out in order to evaluate the performances of a prototype of a retrofitted electric car in urban and extra urban driving cycles. Absolute and specific energy consumption, driving range and state of charge of battery pack have been investigated. Different solutions about the retrofitting configuration and working conditions of the vehicle have been taken into account.
