Abstract :
A novel technique for the design of highly efficient power amplifiers based on an understanding of large signal device behavior has been developed. This is intrinsically a linear circuit analysis procedure employing the concept of conversion matrices. This technique represents a numerically efficient method of analyzing design trade-offs in topology and element values. An extremely small (18mm2) amplifier was designed using this technique and yielded 62% PAE at 1.5 W output power.
