Abstract :
A promising residential distributed generation technology is the combined heat and power (CHP) system. Micro-CHP (or nano-CHP depending on power level) is an energy-efficient technology that simultaneously provides heat and electricity to households. In this paper, the preliminary design of control and electric drive of a nano-CHP system is presented. The apparatus is under development in the frame of a national industrial research program INDUSTRIA 2015 (PIACE project) devoted to the design of an intelligent cogeneration system integrated with renewable energy sources. Simulation studies predict system performance, that has been validated by experimental test carried out on a dedicated laboratory test bench.
